Our story

Suza Avolio

Founder and designer Suza Avolio is a multi-potential creative who’s design work is influenced by her love for nature, sciences and surrealism and her multidisciplinary expertise.

After graduating from High School for Natural Sciences she was hesitant between studying biology or architecture, wanted to be a sound engineer and decided for interior and product design. She moved to Italy at age 27 gaining experiences, both as an actress and as a set designer, developing and constructing the stage-sets for several Tuscan theatre companies and working as a production designer on film-sets for Italian and foreign productions.

The company

It all began when Suza Avolio upcycled an old cabinet that she didn’t like the way it was. The result was a very particular and sophisticated object, “The Sheriff”, more a work of art than a piece of furniture, but always with the same functionality as before. After that it was the turn of an empty magnum bottle of Veuve Cliquot Champagne, too beautiful to throw it away, that became “The Merry Widow”.

It was fun to create scenographic items that are useful in everyday life, so she decided to combine all her experiences and to create industrializable scenographic design objects.
