Boxing Jesus
Tellfilm
Director: Stefan Jäger
Art Director: Susanne Ratschiller
Jesus is alive, here, today among us. But he doesn’t know anything about his luck. His real name is Antonio, a washed-up boxer who’s hired for rigged matches. After a fixed competition he freaks out and is taken to a psychiatric hospital, temporarily set up in a former asylum.
“Boxing Jesus” was nominated for Best Screenplay at the Swiss Film Prize “Quartz”.
Shooting location was the ancient Villa Caruso near Florence. Susanne Ratschiller was at her first experience in a feature film. She was in charge of all the art department tasks and did an incredible prop master’s job, canvassing all hospitals in the area, both active and abandoned structures, managing to keep expenses to a minimum. Visiting the former asylum of Volterra was an overwhelming experience for her.
